Way before its launch on 1 May, Samsung Galaxy S2 became a sensation with pre-orders hitting a record-breaking three million units. The handset till now has got a strong sales record which makes it the bestselling handset of the year.
Beating HTC Sensation and LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S2 has emerged as the Hottest New Phone for 2011 at the Mobile Industry Awards held on 16th June night.
Mobile Industry Awards which is one of the vied award show in the technology sector saw Samsung score a big-one at the event held in London on June 16th.
One judge said: ‘Speed is going to be an essential feature going forward in the smartphone market. The dual-core processor is incredibly powerful, great for games and multimedia. And then there’s that screen.’
‘The Galaxy S II’s screen is something else,’ said one panellist. ‘You could be really cynical and say that phones are becoming at their heart just a screen and an operating system. So long as you do those features right, with a good bit of design thrown in, you’re laughing. But there’s something really special about this device.’
One judge said: ‘It’s an obvious hit in the making, the initial sales are strong and it does pretty much everything you’d want it to do.’
With latest Android Gingerbread 2.3 Software & 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, Samsung Galaxy S2 easily makes its way to the must-have consumer items of 2011.
Samsung was not the only one who was celebrating, there were others also who made their mark like the Hottest Tablet for 2011 went to Apple iPad 2. HTC bagged the Best Manufacurer award and Desire became the phone of the year. Three was crowned as Best Mobile Broadband and as the Best High Street Retailer.
